NearBytes was developed to fill a gap that exists in the interaction between devices: communication by proximity.

Communication by proximity implies that both devices can easily detect that they're close, and then exchange information without necessarily being online. This may seem simple, but currently it's impossible for most devices.

Communication by proximity opens up a whole new universe of applications for smartphones, such as mobile payments, new games, promotions, authentication systems, and many more possibilities.

NearBytes, however, allows any current smartphone to communicate by proximity right now, thanks to a capability that all of them possess: SOUND!

With the NearBytes patented technology, it's now possible for any Android/iOS/Windows Phone 8 device in the market to communicate by proximity. And now, with the development of the NearBytes WEB Plugin, communication can also occur between mobile devices and computers!

So far, the most promising technology supposed to enable all of this, lacks important and relevant features such as:

  • BEING COMPATIBLE WITH THE SMARTPHONES AND COMPUTERS CURRENTLY IN USE
  • WORKING OFFLINE, WITHOUT REQUIRING WI-FI OR 3G/4G
  • BEING ALWAYS AVAILABLE AND READY FOR USE AND NOT NEEDING ANY SETUP OR PAIRING
  • OFFERING AN INTEGRATED SECURITY AND AUTHENTICATION LAYER
HOW DOES THE NEARBYTES WORKS

The patented NearBytes technology, uses high frequency sounds to encode data. High frequency sound is less audible, and fades faster over distance. This guarantees proximity when communicating.

The devices need to be close to communicate, which guarantees greater security and privacy in the interactions. Applications that contain the NearBytes SDK or the NearBytes Web Plugin can enjoy the power of NearBytes technology, and establish a communication channel between devices that are close to each other.

The application with the integrated NearBytes SDK or NearBytes Web Plugin can emit bytes using high frequency sound, that can be received by any device that is physically close, and running the same application (or a compatible application). With NearBytes integrated, the application will now be on the lookout for communication events. When valid high frequency sounds are detected, NearBytes will receive the transmitted data, and will send it to the application`s receptor in an asynchronous way.
